Houston is geared up to host the “Big Game” in just a few days, and events are popping up all over the city that feature some of the best barbecue in the city. We’ve assembled a list of the notable happenings, plus a couple of game-day options as well.

The Wonder Bowl BBQ Showcase

The Wonder Bowl BBQ Showcase is being sponsored by and hosted at 8th Wonder Brewery, 2202 Dallas on Sunday, January 29 from noon to 6 p.m. Local barbecue joints scheduled to serve at this event include Feges BBQ, Tin Roof BBQ, Burns Original BBQ, The Backyard Grill, Beaver’s, and House of Hoopz BBQ. See the event page on Facebook for more info.

The Pit Room and The Patio

The Pit Room and The Patio on Richmond are having Super Bowl Week! specials every day until the big game. The Dan Patrick show BBQ Tour stops by on Monday, January 30 at 2:30 pm, a fajita special is on tap for Thursday evening for just $15, and Friday through Sunday you’ll be able to load up on crawfish and live music. The Patio on Richmond has plenty of parking and seating, plus big screens and access to The Pit Room’s great barbecue as well. The event page on Facebook has more details.

The Big Texas Party

The Big Texas Party is being presented by CultureMap, ESPN Radio, and SB Nation at Silver Street Studios, 2000 Edwards St on Thursday, February 2, 7 to 11 p.m. Billed as a “celebration of Houston,” organizers say they will feature “the food, drink, and hospitality that Houston — and all of Texas — is known for.” Barbecue will be available from El Burro & The Bull, Feges BBQ, Harlem Road Texas BBQ, Killen’s Barbecue, Madmax BBQ, Pinkerton’s Barbecue, Ray’s Real Pit BBQ Shack, Roegels Barbecue, and Tejas Chocolate Craftory. Tailgate on McGowen

Tailgate on McGowen is being hosted by Mongoose Versus Cobra, Leon’s Lounge, and Harlem Road Texas BBQ in the parking lot at Mongoose Versus Cobra, 1011 McGowen, on Saturday, February 4 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Celebrate local favorites in spirits, brews, and barbecue in a “one-day-only menu creation of unique drink recipes, one-off microbrews, and true Texas BBQ while you jam out to a lineup of live music for this morning to night.” Tickets are $20 to $30 in advance. 4th Annual Super Beef Sunday

The 4th Annual Super Beef Sunday, hosted by Saint Arnold Brewing Company and Houston Barbecue Festival, featuring Pinkerton’s Barbecue, Harlem Road Texas BBQ, and Louie Mueller Barbecue, is Sunday, February 5, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 2000 Lyons Ave. The price includes barbecue tastings from all three pitmasters, beer from Saint Arnold, and a commemorative pint glass. Once again, whole briskets and three-bone racks of big beef plate ribs from Louie Mueller Barbecue are available for preorder and pickup at the event (prices are $100 and $75 respectively). Chef Ara of Harlem Road Texas BBQ will have whole racks of Duroc pork ribs for purchase as well at $40 each. Tickets for Super Beef Sunday are $50 and available online, where you can also order and purchase the briskets and ribs.

The Super Barbeque Watch Party

The Super Barbeque! Watch Party is happening at Pappa Charlies Barbeque, 2012 Rusk Street, on Sunday, February 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets include two drinks, a selection of appetizers, a halftime barbecue buffet that will include brisket, ribs, turkey, and a prime rib carving station, and a selection of desserts.
